Isn’t it depressing when you visit a town and all you see are empty, boarded up shop fronts? Which is why you have got to love PopUp Britain, an ingenious concept that gives over shop floor space to start-up retailers that are already present online but don’t yet have the financial clout to take on a shop single-handed for two weeks.
And from today (October 29th) until November 11th, PopUp Britain’s Richmond store in London will open its doors to the pitter patter of tiny feet as the space is taken over by the baby and child market, including Popcorn Box (www.popcorn-box.com), mamaway (www.mamaway.co.uk), BoBo Buddies (www.bobobuddies.co.uk) and Impkids (www.impkids.co.uk).
Impkids founder Liz Marsh, launched one of the hottest Scandinavian brands, Villlervalla, into the UK market place just over a year ago. Its online business is growing healthily but being able to get its brand in front of customers on the high street is a very exciting prospect.
“Villervalla is a brilliantly designed range of Swedish clothes for babies and children aged 0-8 that is full of colour, charm and Scandinavian chic. We can’t wait to get the collection into the pop-up shop so we can interact with customers and let them experience the brand in person,” says Liz. “PopUp Britain is such a great opportunity to not only let brands like us experience being in a retail outlet but to also introduce exciting up and coming brands to thousands of high street customers.”
The PopUp shop is located at 2 Kew Road, Richmond TW9 2NQ and will be open 10-6 Monday-Saturday and 11-4 on Sundays.
