After the birth of her second child, Emily Sandberg realized why she had always dreaded diaper changes in public restrooms – she didn’t want to haul her entire diaper bag into a small and often, unclean bathroom but couldn’t grab all the essentials she needed and carry a squirming baby too. After shopping around for a product to hold the diapers, wipes and pad, Sandberg decided to design her own diaper changing tote and Tushygear was born.
Tushygear combines the diapers, wipes and pad in a cute tote that fits in a small bag or purse and is completely washable. In addition, it is made of 100 percent cotton fabrics on one side and a soft, fluffy fabric on the other. Tushygear can be customized with nearly 25 fabrics to choose from and is hand sewn in the U.S.
“I created Tushygear to help save parents from lugging their diapers and wipes in a plastic zip-loc bag in their purse or bag and, from having to change their precious babies’ tushies on a yucky public changing table,” said Sandberg. “I’ve observed parents everywhere struggle with where to put the pad, diapers and wipes when they don’t want to carry a diaper bag. Tushygear is their answer.”
Tushygear is Sandberg’s first design and she hand selected boys, girls and unisex patterns like surfboards, footballs, baseballs, flowers, polka dots, tie-dyed, dots and swirls and sock monkeys. The entire line up can be found at www.tushygear.com or at select children’s retailers in Illinois, Michigan, Missouri and Minnesota.
