GETTING THERE
Madeira International Airport (airportcode = FNC) in Santa Cruz is the main gateway to the region and is used regularly by the main European airlines. It takes around 1hr 30 min to fly from Madeira to any of the Portuguese airports and a little over two hours to get to airports in the centre of Europe. Madeira Airport is the largest construction project ever undertaken on the island. It used to be called Funchal Airport. Its runway has been extended from 1,600 m to its present 2,781 min length. The new part of the runway is built partially over the sea and is very impressive.

The modern, spacious terminal building has a tourist office, a residential tourism booking office, a post office, car rental services, travel agencies, exchange bureaus, a restaurant, bars and shops. It also has two Netpoints for free wireless internet access.

The airport is about 16 km, a 15 minute ride, from Funchal.

The SHA Healthy Pregnancy Retreat

 

SHA is a wellness clinic in Spain dedicated to improving people’s health and well-being through a fusion of ancient oriental disciplines and revolutionary western techniques. Pregnancy should be a healthy and fulfilling experience. SHA has created a program that specifically meets the needs of the mother-to-be who wants to maximize her health and relax in beautiful surroundings. Each mother’s special needs are considered with an emphasis on health, peace and tranquility.

One of the SHA professional counselors will meet with you when you arrive and help you with a dietary program for the week and a program of gentle stretching exercise to keep the body limber, stress reduction sessions to allow you to fully relax and book you in for a relaxing massage with special care for the legs, feet, ankles and lower back where tension and stress often occur during pregnancy. You may also want a full counseling session with one of SHA’s macrobiotic consultants who will give you health suggestions for after your delivery or some private natural foods cooking classes – the decisions are yours. SHA is there to help you have this special time the most healthy and happy time of your life.

The SHA Healthy Pregnancy Retreat includes: health coaching session for your wellbeing, pregnancy, birth and beyond, three healthy meals a day to suit your needs, three gentle yoga stretching classes, two back and leg massages and nutritious vegetable juices.
