Tushygear, a stylish tote for on the road

After the birth of her second child, Emily Sandberg realized why she had always dreaded diaper changes in public restrooms – she didn’t want to haul her entire diaper bag into a small and often, unclean bathroom but couldn’t grab all the essentials she needed and carry a squirming baby too. After shopping around for a product to hold the diapers, wipes and pad, Sandberg decided to design her own diaper changing tote and Tushygear was born.
Tushygear combines the diapers, wipes and pad in a cute tote that fits in a small bag or purse and is completely washable. In addition, it is made of 100 percent cotton fabrics on one side and a soft, fluffy fabric on the other. Tushygear can be customized with nearly 25 fabrics to choose from and is hand sewn in the U.S.
“I created Tushygear to help save parents from lugging their diapers and wipes in a plastic zip-loc bag in their purse or bag and, from having to change their precious babies’ tushies on a yucky public changing table,” said Sandberg. “I’ve observed parents everywhere struggle with where to put the pad, diapers and wipes when they don’t want to carry a diaper bag. Tushygear is their answer.”
Tushygear is Sandberg’s first design and she hand selected boys, girls and unisex patterns like surfboards, footballs, baseballs, flowers, polka dots, tie-dyed, dots and swirls and sock monkeys. The entire line up can be found at www.tushygear.com or at select children’s retailers in Illinois, Michigan, Missouri and Minnesota.

Travel Light with BABYBJÖRN

Many hotels and resorts nowadays offer cribs and rollaway beds for your baby or child. From my own experience it is an excellent service because it allows you to have less luggage than you already have with a baby.
But since this service is not available at every holiday destination, the BABYBJÖRN Travel Crib Light is the perfect crib to take with you on trips. It can be set up in record time, in one easy movement. It weighs only 5 kgs/11lbs and is light and easy to carry in its carrying case. Soft fabric makes it snug and cozy for your child. Both the mattress cover and the bed fabric can be machine-washed. You can use the BABYBJÖRN Travel Crib Light for newborns and up until your child is about three years old.

Traveling with Trixie and Terrance

As a travel professional with a newborn, I am thinking ahead of how I can make traveling easier (or even just bearable..) with kids. I have asked my friends for advice and have gotten great ideas. Now I have something I want to add-Trunki, the first and only ride-on suitcase for children that is available in the original Pink (Trixie) or Blue (Terrance) and the new green (Towgo) and cow print (Frieda).
Designed by a British company and originally introduced in Europe, Trunki is now available for purchase in the US. Trunki can be packed full of fun to keep your little globetrotters entertained during the journey. Children can pack, sit-on and ride their own luggage or be towed by their parents.
Trunki’s lightweight and durable design (it can hold up to about 100 lbs!) is hand luggage approved, with generous space inside for toys, games, books and spare clothes. Trunki is CE marked, has the EN71 safety certificate and is also fully recyclable. The size is perfect for young children. Recommended for carry-on luggage only, Trunki measures about 18×8x12 inches, and weighs less than 4 pounds when empty. Trunki sells for $30-$40. Check it out at http://www.trunki.co.uk/ or http://www.trunki.net/.

When you are planning ahead for a trip with the three of you, a stop (over) at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport in the Netherlands gets more interesting with their new “Babycare Lounge by Nutricia”.
Nutricia is a baby food brand. In the Babycare Lounge parents can take care of their babies (in private), bathe them, feed them and/or allow them to sleep for a while in one of the seven bed cabins, which include comfortable seats for the parents. In the hectic airport environment, the Babycare Lounge is a haven of peace and quiet where parents can get their breath back while their babies are comfortably asleep or playing. The Babycare Lounge is designed by Marjolein Vreeburg of MV Architects. At their website you will find more images of the Babycare Lounge.
